Save the Dates for These Weekend Family Events in 2024

Monarch Mania, Saturday, October 5, 1-4 pm.

This free, fun, family-oriented event for kids and grandkids will have nature activities for all ages and lots of give-aways related to gardening, wildlife, plants, seeds and the environment – a good way to encourage kids to learn more about pollinators like Monarch butterflies and our community Monarch Waystation Garden. More details of what's being featured at Monarch Mania this year

In 2024 we have been experimenting with the workshop format for our community events. This will allow us an opportunity to provide information and hands-on activities and to distribute kits for you to take home to get more involved with the topic.

Winter Sowing Workshop, Saturday, December 7, 2024

Our Winter Sowing Workshop will show you how to create your own mini seed-starting greenhouses. Just plant your jugs, water them, and stick them outside over the winter and basically forget them. Then in the spring, you'll have plants ready to put in the ground when it's time. We will distribute milkweed seeds and other popular perennials for you to plant plus instructions and 2 greenhouse kits as samples.  Register your interest here..

Have You Visited our Monarch Waystation Garden Behind the Woods Sports Center?

In 2022, our club was awarded a competitive grant by the Monarch Alliance to create a community Monarch Waystation Garden.  This year, the third, the garden was spectacular with gorgeous pollinator friendly plants blooming This almost year round. This October, we are planting a Northern Red Oak near the playground and installing a new bench that has been donated to us! See highlights beginning here.
