Welcome!
Anyone with a love of nature is invited to participate in our meetings, trips, workshops, community projects and information sharing.
Located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, the Woods Garden Club was formed in 2001. Our meetings are open to all; you do not have to live in The Woods. From March through October, our monthly meetings include a presentation from an expert in some field of interest to our members. Other activities include bus trips, garden tours and socials, educational opportunities for kids, and local landscaping and community service projects.
We have created this website to keep you informed of our activities and to be a source of gardening and related resources.

Spring Tree PlantingThank-Yous
Thanks to everyone who participated and a huge thank you to the volunteers who allowed us to complete the offload, staging, tagging and delivery of 139 native trees in just one day. A special thank you to Robert Uccellini for allowing the our club to use space at Potomac Valley Home Services. Thank you to the Cacapon Institute staff of Shannon and her assistant for their help throughout the day.
The Planting Demonstration was held on Saturday, April 11th at 11:00 AM on Wampum Lane here in the Woods. For those who are new to the program, this was a very informative demo and also part of the agreement with Cacapon Institute. A representative from the institute conducted the demo, answered questions and distrbuted helpful printed materials.
Thank you to those of you who worked with us on substitutions. Our hope is to have a Fall 2026 program for those who would like to participate.
Thanks again for your support and assistance in making The Woods just a little bit greener.

Do you know our state flower?
West Virginia: Rhododendron
The rhododendron is a flowering shrub of pink, purple, and white blooms every late spring. Native to eastern North America, it is also called the great laurel, or American rhododendron.
Thousands of schoolchildren across the state voted for the flower, and it was officially designated by the state in 1903. It beat out the honeysuckle and wild rose by over 15,000 votes.
This spring we will be overhauling our Resources Pages and adding new items. Please contact us with suggestions and topics to include.
